Re-Installing your 12d Synergy Client to resolve Workspace Discrepancies

This article is aimed to help customers who have an issue with some clients referring to a different server name in their workspace.

This issue is caused by an earlier build of the software that cached the wrong variable on the affected users system. Due to this caching, even when upgrading the client, the server name in the work space remains incorrect.

  • All data must be checked in before performing the below steps on the affected users system. Not doing so can lead to data loss.
  • Performing the below steps will effectively clear any saved data from the system. The user will lose their favourites and history within the product.
  1. Check in all data.
  2. Close 12d Synergy.
  3. Close applications that use the 12dS plugin
    1. Outlook
    2. Word
    3. Excel
    4. ACAD
    5. 12dM
    6. BricsCAD
  4. Uninstall the client application
    1. Click on Start
    2. Type ‘Control’
    3. Select Control Panel
      If you only see 7 icons, change the view to small or large. 
    4. Select Program and Features
    5. Uninstall the 12dS Client

      If you see multiple entries of 12d Synergy remove all of them.

  5. Delete Application Data
    1. In the explorer address bar type %appdata% in the address bar and delete the 12d Synergy folder.
    2. In the explorer address bar type %localappdata% in the address bar and delete the 12d Synergy folder.
    3. Navigate to the workspace and delete the workspace as a whole
  6. Install  the application
    1. Download the client - https://files.12dsynergy.com/downloads/download.aspx
    2. Run the install file
    3. Select the modules required
    4. Accept default and install
    5. When prompted for a default synergy server, please leave this blank
  7. Outlook- optional
    1. Click the 12d Synergy ribbon menu
      1. Enable the addon
      2. Restart Outlook
      3. Connect to a default job
