12d Synergy can operate in a 'mixed authentication mode' - allowing a mix of Windows and Custom logins.
To use mixed mode, you must NOT be using Active Directory for your group membership and you must have configured a certificate below:
- Active Directory for Group Membership: OFF
- Certificate Status: Not Configured
Active Directory for Group Membership
- Open 12d Synergy Administration
- Go to Users
- Then the User Login Mode tab
- Make sure Active Directory for Group Membership is set to OFF
Certificate
You need to provide a SSL Certificate, provided from a third party Certificate Authority (CA)
This can be done in several ways:
- You can generate a CSR in the Admin and give it to your CA to generate
- You can use an existing certificate already in your Certificate store and provide the thumbprint
- Note: DO NOT USE A SELF-SIGNED CERTIFICATE
This certificate needs to be in the Computer Certificate Store, under Personal and Trusted People - these locations are required by Microsoft's comms framework for valid authentication.
When that is done, restart the SERVICE
If done correctly, the details under Users→ Login Mode should show that Custom Logins are on and you can now create users with a custom password.
