1 What's New

1.1 Forms

12d Synergy V6 has added support for Forms. Forms allow you to create custom forms for data capture purposes, whether you’re in the office or out in the field, using the Windows Client, the Web app or our Mobile app. Once forms are completed, they can then be used to generate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, CSV files or PDFs using your custom look and feel.

1.2. BIM Viewer

12d Synergy V6 has added a BIM Viewer to view IFC files. This includes view model properties, model federation and provides clash detection support.

1.3. Issue Tracking

We’re also excited to announce Issue Tracking. In 12d Synergy V6, users can now raise issues against jobs, files, 12d model projects and managed folders. These issues can be tracked throughout their entire lifecycle. Administrators may define issue types to define additional attribution requirements and how statuses progress.

Additionally, Issue Tracking can be used in conjunction with the BIM Viewer to track issues against IFCs in the system.

1.4. Power BI Support

12d Synergy has now added an endpoint for Power BI to interrogate. This allows you to generate reports in Power BI that include 12d Synergy statistics. This includes information about entities such as:

  • Jobs

  • Files and File Storage metrics

  • File Changes

  • Users, Contacts and Companies

  • License Usage, and more

2 Other Changes

2.1. Important Notes:

  1. 12d Synergy V6 is now 64-bit. This means the client software will only work in 64-bit environments, and plugins will only operate for 64-bit versions of software. This includes products like MS Office, AutoCAD and 12d Model.

  2. Issued Files are now called Transmittals.

2.2. General Enhancements

  1. The local database technology has been upgraded to a more modern platform.

  2. Users can now set a specific time zone for generating reports and form outputs.

  3. Users now have a profile page in the Windows client, like in the Web app. This includes setting the following information:

    1. Attributes

    2. Signatures

    3. User timezone

    4. Personal Access Tokens

  4. Greying out of empty folders now works when there are empty subfolders in the 12d Synergy Client application.

  5. Added support for Ctrl + Backspace functionality in text fields to clear all that is written in the text box.

  6. Added an option to refresh search results via the right-click Refresh Search option on the search query that is added as an entry in the tree structure.

  7. Clicking 12d Synergy > Change Job menu option in the thick client now takes you to the Find a Job window instead of the login prompt, where you can change the server.

  8. Double-clicking the Managed Folder can now check out and open the folder.

  9. Added an Open button to the Word and Excel plugins to allow users to open files without going back to 12d Synergy.

  10. The New File options now allow creation of multiple files at one time when using Library Templates.

2.3. Administration Enhancements

  1. Added the ability to manage Contacts and Companies via the 12d Synergy Administration application > Contacts and Companies tab

  2. Added the ability to filter/hide attributes on the 12d Synergy Administration application > System Attributes > All Attributes tab

  3. Added an option to get all server logs via the 12d Synergy Administration application > General tab > Logs tab > Download Server button > All Logs option, not just the latest version

  4. Added the ability to duplicate an attribute easily using the 12d Synergy Administration application > System Attributes tab > All Attributes tab > Duplicate button

2.4. Office 365 Integration

  1. General improvements to the user experience, including surfacing the options higher in the menu structure.

  2. Opening an item with Office 365 collaboration adds it to the recent items list in My Active Items gadget.

  3. Office 365 collaboration owners can now invite additional users via 12d Synergy after starting the collaboration using the right-click Add Contacts to Microsoft 365 session option on the collaborated file.

2.5. CAD Enhancements

  1. Added support for BricsCAD 2025

  2. 12d Synergy will now warn when attempting to publish DWG to PDF if a transparency is involved, as transparencies are not supported

2.6. Technical Changes

  1. Removed support for TLS 1.1

  2. Reduced the client heartbeat time to support shorter timeouts from firewalls

  3. Added unique support IDs to each error message to assist in the support process

  4. Users can now add Personal Access Tokens from the Thick Client

2.7. Optimisations

  1. Contact images are now stored on the server, instead of the database, to reduce contact load times

  2. Improved attribute search and display when listing files in a folder

  3. Improved batching process for processing server responses, to improve client speed

  4. Significant improvement to post-processing during the file/managed folder/12d model project check-in process, to improve check-in times

  5. Improvements to the delivery of folder and subfolder information to the client, to improve speeds when navigating the tree structure

2.8. Workflow Improvements

  1. Convert File activity now provides settings for constraints like attributes

  2. Added a workflow activity to move a job

  3. Added a workflow activity to associate entities

  4. Make latest version option now works on a file with a workflow

  5. Triggers can now be set to inherit from above

  6. Added an option on a workflow state to prevent changes while in the current workflow state

2.9. Connector Improvements

  1. Connector configuration changes are now logged in the Audit Log

  2. Connector logs are now downloaded instead of being saved into 12d Synergy
