# Associations

Client Content

One entity can be associated with other entities within the system, such as files, folders, tasks, jobs and so on. This is an easy way of saying that one entity is related to another entity within 12d Synergy. It can also explain how they are related to each other.

Associations can be added for the following entities from their respective pages:

- Folders
- Companies
- Associations
- Files
- Tasks
- Issues

### 1.1. How to Add Associations

2. Click the ![](https://cdn.document360.io/36833d89-59e3-46a5-b491-e9aa1b524a85/Images/Documentation/addingassociations.doc-image-10vcelsg.png) button.
3. Select one of the following options.
  - **File** – to select a file as an association
  - **Folder** – to select a folder as an association
  - **Job** – to select a job as an association
  - **Task** – to select a task as an association
  - **12d Model project** – to select a contact as an association
  - **Contact** – to select a contact as an association
  - **Company** – to select a company as an association
  - **Issue** – to select an issue as an association The selected association is added to the entity you are editing.
